In the religion of Hinduism, Hanuman is a true devotee of Rama and is a central character in the legend of Ramayana. He is also mentioned in other texts, such as Mahabharata and several other Purana. He is a life-long celibate and is the son of Anjani and Kesari as well as that of Pawan, the God of wind. Lord Hanuman was named after the incident where Lord Indra's thunderbolt struck his jaw while he was still a child.
